IRVINE, CA --- Boasting a combined 414 career wins and a decade each at Concordia, head coaches Ken Ammann (men's basketball) and Crystal Rosenthal (softball) had plenty to offer in their respective appearances at last week's first-annual California Coaches Conference.

The conference, hosted by Concordia University's Master of Arts in Coaching and Athletics Administration, featured a guest lecture by Ammann as part of the class entitled, "MCAA 573: Advanced Theory and Strategy for Coaching Basketball", in which he shed some light on a coaching career that has landed the Concordia Eagles into the NAIA National Championships eight times in just 10 years at the prgram's helm.

Ammann, who coached the 2003 Eagles to the only NAIA men's basketball title in the history of the Golden State Athletic Conference, has guided his teams into the national championship game two other times, and has finished in the quarterfinal round or better five times in eight trips to College Basketball's Toughest Tournament.

Boasting three GSAC Coach of the Year honors, including two in a row, Ammann most recently led the Eagles to their second consecutive GSAC title, highlighted by NAIA National Player of the Year Justin Johnson, who was named an NAIA All-American in both his seasons in the Green and Gold (2009-10, 2010-11).

A member of the Concordia Athletics Hall of Fame as a four-year starter in an Eagles uniform, Rosenthal has been on the softball coaching staff at Concordia since 2001, the year after she earned her bachelor's degree.

Rosenthal was on the coaching staff in 2006 when Concordia made its first-ever trip to the NAIA National Championships, and she led the 2009 squad back to the national stage before making a return trip in 2010.

Rosenthal, who earned her master's in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia's MCAA program in 2006, taught a class during last week entitled, "MCAA 575: Advanced Theories and Strategies for Coaching Softball".
