Visit Historical University of Michigan Campus for Water Polo Invite

 

March 16th thru March 18th, the Concordia women's water polo team competed at the Michigan Invite. The event was hosted by the University of Michigan on their famous campus in Ann Arbor, MI.  CU Eagles competed in five games, winning four. The games were against Gannon University, Siena, Mercyhurst College, Notre Dame College, and University of Michigan. 

On Friday, the CU Eagles competed against Gannon and won with a final score of 13-4.  Scoring for the Eagles was Kathryn Manderino and Ashley Dorrego with two goals each.  Concordia's Jamie Clark netted an amazing six goals.  Tallying one goal each for the Eagles was Catalina Barraza, Alex Barnes, and Allie Flath.  CU's goalie, Chelsea Datt, had a remarkable game with 13 saves. 

On Saturday, the Eagles took on three opponents and won against Siena, Mercyhurst, and Notre Dame College (OH), with final scores of 11-8, 11-3, and 13-7, respectively.  In the game against Siena, CU's Jamie Clark scored four goals, while Ashley Dorrego and Maria Quiroz each netted two goals.  Adding one goal each to the Eagles' scoreboard was Haley Ring, Kathryn Manderino, and Catalina BarrazaChelsea Datt had five saves in the game. 

In the contest against #10 (CWPA Division I/II) Mercyhurst, CU dominated their opponent the entire game.  In this game, Kathryn Manderino had five goals, while her teammate Catalina Barraza netted two.  Scoring one goal each for the Eagles were Alex Barnes, Ashley Dorrego, Jamie Clark, and Chante' LundskogChelsea Datt held Mercyhurst with six saves. 

On the final game of the day against Notre Dame College, CU's Kathryn Manderino netted four goals, while her teammate Jamie Clark made three.  The Eagles' Haley Ring had two goals for the game, while netting one goal each for Concordia was Chante' Lundskog, Ashley Dorrego, Catalina Barraza, and Abby TsukamotoChelsea Datt had an amazing ten saves in the game. 

On Sunday, Concordia lost against the #13 University of Michigan 9-14.  Manderino and Clark had four goals each, while Haley Ring scored the ninth.  Datt had seven saves in goal.

CU is back in action on Saturday, March 31, when they will travel to Cal State Monterey Bay in Seaside, CA for a doubleheader with CSU Monterey Bay and Cal State East Bay getting underway at 10 am.
