Mobile, AL -- Jordan Kimura and Bettina Radke were awarded with special awards at the 2012 NAIA National Banquet of Champions held May 14 in Mobile, Alabama.  Both Kimura and Radke were recently given the 2012 All-GSAC distinction, the fourth time for both athletes after an outstanding season in both singles and doubles play.

Jordan Kimura was honored with the National ITA/Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award, a distinction that culminates her stellar four-year college tennis career and her outstanding servant leadership.  Minutes after being honored with the ITA West Region Award, Kimura was solely selected over top national competitors for the National ITA/Arthur Ashe Award.  She will be flown to New York in August to participate in the 2012 U.S. Open Arthur Ashe Kids Day and honored in a special awards luncheon held in the USTA President's Dining Room.  Kimura is the first member of the Concordia tennis program to be recognized with National ITA/Arthur Ashe Award accolades.

The recent recipient of the GSAC Outstanding Athlete of the Year award, Bettina Radke was given the Concordia women's team Champions of Character Award, an honor that recognizes the five core values of character and the true spirit of competition.  She ended her excellent three-year career as an Eagle by claiming the 112th Ojai Valley Independent College singles title with strong victories over many top players at the top singles position.  Radke also played into the doubles finals with partner Jordan Kimura in the Ojai Valley Tournament and the ITA Regionals this past season.

Kimura and Radke will lead the #8 Concordia team as co-captains in the 2012 NAIA Tennis National Championships in the quarterfinals against the winner of #9 William Carey (Miss.) and Indiana Southeast on May 16.  The Eagles women received a bye as part of the top 8 nationally ranked teams held out of the first day of play.
