KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The NAIA has announced that 308 softball student-athletes have been named 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Avila (Mo.) leads all institutions with seven student-athletes on the list.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
Seniors Katie Carson, Alyssa Erickson, Alicia Lucatero, and Brieana Eckel all earned the prestigious honor. All four were also selected GSAC Scholar-Athletes. Erickson and Lucatero were honored as COSIDA Capital One Academic All-Americans and Carson was chosen as the Capital One College Softball Division Academic All-American of the Year.
Erickson, Eckel, and Lucatero were all NAIA Scholar-Athletes in 2011. Concordia finished the season 56-4, the most wins in school history.
