RIVERSIDE, CA --- Mike Perry won a trio of freestyle events to lead the Concordia men to a fifth-place finish, while the Eagle women's team turned in a seventh-place showing at the California Baptist Pentathlon Saturday afternoon.
Perry captured first place in the 200 (1:43.85), 100 (47.51) and 25 (9.92) free events, while finishing second with a mark of 21:63 in the 50 free, as the Eagle men held fifth place by a healthy 151-point advantage over sixth-place Biola.
Damien Bernard swam third-place times of 52.71 in the 100 fly and 1:01.08 in the 100 breast and had a pair of fourth-place swims in the 100 back (54.97) and 100 free (48.71). His time of 2:01.54 in the 200 IM was also good for fourth place for the Concordia men.
The women's team edged Azusa Pacific by a one-point margin (79.5 to 78.5) to claim seventh place.
Tuesday Schellinger finished fifth with a time of 11.88 in the 25 free, while Katie Moore also swam a time of 1:10.96 to claim fifth in the 100 breast.
Ana Gomez turned in an eighth-place time of 2:17.87 in the 200 IM and finished ninth with a mark of 1:01.85 in the 100 back.
Both teams race in their next meet Oct. 25 at the Malibu Invitational.
