On Saturday, March 23, at the campus of Cal State Fullerton, the #9 men's Concordia tennis team matched up against Hope International University.  Concordia came out with green and gold pride to complete the singles and doubles board in a full sweep.  Hope falls to 3-12 overall, 2-6 in GSAC and Eagles improve their record 7-9 overall, 5-4 GSAC.

Senior, Micah Groom, led the Eagles in the singles competition against his opponent Leonardo Pires with a complete two set shut out 6-0, 6-0.  The runner up was earned by junior Farren Casad against Thiago Brito taking away the two set match 6-4, 6-2.  Junior Bruno Kliskinic earned a third place finish on the board after defeating his opponent John-Douglas Owens in two sets 6-2, 6-3.  Continuing the Eagle charge was freshman Marc Reddmann with an exciting back and forth match-up against Jack Barnard.  Reddmann came back after the first set loss and took control over the rest of the match 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-2).  Sophomore Christian Wickenhauser started off the first set with a back and forth battle 7-5 and took early control over the set two with quit 6-3 match victory.  Another exciting match for the Eagles completed the singles competition sweep with senior Jordan Hovis against his opponent Tyler McDonald.  McDonald took set one, but the reigns were quickly taken over in the second set by Hovis.  Leaving it all on the court, the men rallied against each other with Hovis finally taking the match win 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (12-10).

In the doubles competition the men worked fast to take HIU in a three match sweep.  Kliskinic/Wickenhauser took charge in their match against Owens/Pires 8-2.  Following closely behind them was Groom/senior Patrick Szermenta defeating their competition Enzo Correa/Brito 8-4.  At the end of the day Reddmann/Casad finished off the full green and gold sweep defeating Barnard/McDondald 8-3.

Eagles continued Wednesday, March 27 with another victory against #19 McPherson College at the home courts of Concordia University 7-2.

In the singles competition, Kliskinic defeated Rafael Bulnes in an exciting three set match 6-4, 6-7, 10-7.  Wickenhauser shut out his opponent, Vyacheslav Bukatin, in the first set 6-0 and finished off the victory in the second set 6-4.  In another three set victory, Reddmann defeated Mark Mahan 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.  Groom earned the win against Torsetn Keil-Long in two sets 7-6, 6-2.  Casad finished off the final CU victory in singles competition by allowing only one point in two sets 6-0, 6-1.

CU went two for three in the doubles competition led by Groom/Szeremeta defeating Keil-Long/Mahan 8-3.  Kliskinic/Wickenhauser took away the final victory for the Eagles against Sean Dullaghan/Bukatin 8-4.

Eagles end the day improving their overall record again to 8-9 and bringing McPherson College to 13-4 overall. The next match for the Eagles is Friday, April 5, against Lewis-Clark State College at the Racquet Club of Irvine.
