IRVINE, CA --- Kayanna Nichols was about as productive as one player could be, hitting 8-for-8 from the field, including 7-for-7 from three-point range to end with 25 points in Concordia's, 108-47, thrashing of La Sierra in the home opener Monday night.
Nichols tied herself and four others for third on the school single-game chart with the seven three-pointers, leading the Eagles to their third consecutive victory to improve to 3-1 in Jenny Hansen's first season as head coach.
La Sierra shot just 33 percent from the field compared to a 57 percent effort by Concordia, as it falls to 0-2.
The Eagles never let the game get close, after jumping out to a 7-0 lead thanks to a three-pointer from Nicole Fu and two layups from Priscilla Angeloni in the early going. Concordia dominated the boards as well, coming up with 47 rebounds--including 17 on the offensive side--to La Sierra's 24 (including just 5 offensive boards).
Lauren Sahli, Randi Spence and Lauren Hudash each scored 10 points, as every player but one on the the active roster scored at least two points in the blowout victory.
Audrey Ramos and Nerida Peever scored 14 and 12 points, respectively, to lead La Sierra.
Concordia next hosts Marygrove (MI) Nov. 28 starting at 2:30 p.m.
