The Concordia Eagles hosted the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs at the Orange County Great Park on Monday night.

Despite being delayed over an hour due to a traffic accident, the Banana Slugs started fast, scoring the game's first two goals.  Concordia was unable to capitalize on early opportunities, but broke their scoring slump was at 6:11 in the first quarter when Nick Summers (JR, Mission Viejo, CA) buried an unassisted goal. Less than two minutes later Josh Fagan (SR, Victoria, B.C.) would finish the first of his game high five goals to even the count at 2-2.   On the following CUI possession, Sean Wilson (FR, Palos Verdes, CA) drove hard to the cage and finished his first of two goals on the day and put the Eagles up for good at the 3:40 mark in the first quarter.

Concordia took control of the contest from there, scoring 18 goals from six different goal scorers. Jonathan Quickel (JR, Salt Lake City, UT) and Bryant Hernandez (FR, Downey, CA) dominated the face off X and gave the Eagles valuable possessions all game. High point scorers in the game were Josh Fagan (5g, 2a), Matthew Mantovan-Hudgen (4g, 3a) (JR, Grass Valley, CA), and Chase Matranga (4g, 2a) (SO,Dana Hills, CA). When the dust settled, the Eagles were victorious 18-10 to win their 4th straight contest and improve to 4-4 on the year.

Concordia plays host to two straight top 25 teams this week with #24 Western Washington on Thursday night 7:30pm at Aliso Niguel High School and #8 Western Oregon on Saturday at 11:00am at Concordia University.
