RIVERSIDE, CA --- After handing Azusa Pacific a 14-2 thrashing earlier in the day, Concordia took a 13-5 loss to the nation's No. 17 UC Santa Barbara in the Lancer Invitational Saturday.
Pelin Chalayan scored four goals, including two in the first quarter, in game one, as Concordia (1-1) built up a 7-1 advantage by halftime.

Sam Gelberger and Danielle O'Toole each scored three goals in the first three quarters of the victory, as four other Eagles scored a goal in the win. Goalie Lauren Biberston made just five saves in the opener.

Biberston had considerably more work in the second game, as the Gauchos scored three goals in each of the first three quarters before punching in four goals in the closing period of a 13-5 victory over Concordia.

The Eagles ended the first period in a 3-3 tie with the Gauchos, as Gelberger scored twice and O'Toole added a score in the game's opening minutes.

Gelberger's single goals in the second and fourth periods would be Concordia's only scores from that point on, however, as UC Santa Barbara converted on six of eight power play opportunities and held the Eagles scoreless on six similar chances.

Biberston made 12 saves on the day.

Concordia next plays hosts Cal State Bakersfield Friday, Feb. 6 at William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine, starting at 12 p.m.
