RIVERSIDE, CA --- Sam Gelberger pushed five goals across, including three in the final period, but a 5-1 California Baptist lead at the half stood the late Concordia charge, as the Eagles fell by a final score of 8-7 at the Lancer Aquatics Center.

The loss is Concordia's fifth in school history at the hands of the Lancers, as the Eagles drop to 2-4. Meanwhile, the win improves California Baptist to 5-5 on the campaign.

Gelberger posted the only goal of the first half for Concordia, as the Lancers' Ashley Rood netted a pair of goals in a three-goal first period, and California Baptist jumped out to a 5-0 lead midway through the second period.

California Baptist scored the first two goals of the second half to make it a 7-1 game, butt the Eagles fought back, as Gelberger netted her second goal of the game on a penalty throw that made the score 7-2 heading to the third period.

Gelberger scored a minute into the fourth period to make it a 7-3 score, and California Baptist answered with a goal from Kylie Chevalier to score its final goal of the game with 6:52 remaining to make the score 8-3.

Gelberger then netted the first and fourth goals of a 4-0 Concordia rally to end the game, as Tuesday Schellinger and Danielle O'Toole scored in the run.

Goalie Lauren Biberston nabbed seven saves on the afternoon for the Eagles, who were 0-for-6 on penalty play opportunities, while Lancer goalie Camryn Rogers notched eight saves.

Concordia returns to the pool March 13 when it hosts Fresno Pacific at the William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine.
