IRVINE, CA --- It was fitting
that on senior night, Priscilla Angeloni would leave the home crowd
with something to remember her by, as Concordia's only senior scored a
dozen points and grabbed 14 rebounds in a 63-53 win over Fresno Pacific.
Concordia (13-14, 6-13 GSAC) wraps up the home season by snapping a six-game losing streak, while the Sunbirds fall to 13-13, including 9-10 in Golden State Athletic Conference play.
Angeloni hardly waited for the senior night festivities to die down before she went to work, scoring each of Concordia's first six points as the Eagles gained an early 6-0 advantage.
She ended the half with 10 points and eight rebounds, as Concordia kept the Sunbirds in single-digits throughout the game's first 14:27 and carried a 38-19 lead into the locker rooms.
Overall, the Eagles out-shot Fresno Pacific by a 40 percent (20-for-50) to 34 percent (19-for-56) margin, as Nicole Fu ended with 11 points and Lauren Nichols chipped in eight points and seven boards from the bench.
Fresno Pacific was led by a game-high 17 points from Bricali Cooley, who sunk six of eight free-throws. Samantha Cardeno scored 11 points in the loss for the Sunbirds.
Concordia led by as much as 25 points in the second half, after a layup from Lauren Sahli made the score 46-21 with 16:48 left on the clock, but Fresno Pacific chipped away at the lead over next 12 minutes, and made it an eight-point game, at 56-48 with five minutes left on a layup from MacKinzie Butler.
The Eagles held on, however, thanks to a strong showing at the free-throw line that resulted in a 19-for-24 showing on the night.
Angeloni's 14 rebounds give her 507 for her career, as she becomes the 11th player in school history to haul down at least 500 boards.
Concordia closes out its season at San Diego Christian Monday (March 2) starting at 5:30 p.m.
