IRVINE, CA --- It's official.
The bracket for the 2009 Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men's Basketball
National Championships has been announced, and the NAIA's No. 12-ranked
Concordia opens against Oklahoma Christian Wednesday (March 18).
The Eagles enter First Round competition with a 26-6 record on the season, and although they dropped out of the GSAC Tournament in the semifinal round, they have won 14 of the last 16 games of the campaign.
Concordia's second-place finish in the GSAC with a record of 16-4 earns it a No. 12 seed in the tournament, where the Eagles have gone 14-5 all-time and captured the 2002-03 NAIA national title. Concordia looks to advance to its fourth NAIA title game in the past seven years.
It is Concordia's seventh appearance at the national tournament.
Oklahoma Christian, like Concordia, earned an at-large berth to the tournament after finishing the year at 23-9. Playing in its fourth national tournament, Oklahoma Christian has gone 4-8 over its first three appearances.
The matchup begins Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. (PST) at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.
