IRVINE, CA --- Andrey Potapkin
and Augusto Elias each received All-Golden State Athletic Conference
recognition to compliment NAIA All-American honors, while NAIA Men's
Tennis Coach of the Year John Norton was named the GSAC Coach of the
Year.
The Eagles advanced all the way to the quarterfinals round at NAIA Men's Tennis National Championship for the first time in school history this year. Norton gains the national and conference recognition in his fourth season as head coach, after he was instrumental in restarting Concordia's tennis program in 2006.
Concordia's top player in singles, Potapkin posted a 10-9 record in singles, including a 6-7 mark in GSAC tilts, while going 12-9, 7-7 GSAC in doubles.
Elias, meanwhile, went 15-6 in singles throughout the season, including a mark of 9-6 in GSAC play. Concordia's No. 2 player in singles also posted a record of 14-7, 9-6.
Both Potapkin and Elias were selected to the NAIA All-American second-team, while Kareem Berdai and Oliver Fabre earned honorable mention status.
