IRVINE, CA --- Jennifer Sher
and Jordan Kimura were tabbed as All-Golden State Athletic Conference
performers, while head coach John Norton earned GSAC Coach of the Year
honors, it was announced Thursday.
Norton, named the NAIA and GSAC Coach of the Year on the men's side, coached his team of predominantly freshmen (four of six) to a semifinal finish at the NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship.
Sher's season was highlighted when she captured Concordia's first-ever individual championship at the Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament, as she earned NAIA All-American first-team honors as a freshman.
On the season, Sher went to 19-2 in singles action, including a mark of 15-2 in GSAC competition. She also posted a mark of 16-5, 12-4 GSAC, in doubles action.
Kimura, who was named to the NAIA All-American second-team, finshed her singles campaign at 16-5, with a mark of 11-5 in GSAC play. In doubles action, the freshman went 14-5, finishing at 11-3 in GSAC competition.
The freshman duo of Kristin Yep and Johanna Sceresini, along with senior Jaleh Mazaheri finished the year with NAIA All-American honorable mention honors, but were not named to the All-GSAC team.
