ANNAPOLIS, MD --- A quartet of
goals from junior 2-meter
Milos Skaljac and three more from junior
driver
Alex Donovan propelled unranked Concordia in an 11-4 upset of
the nation's No. 12-ranked U.S. Naval Academy in the latter's
tournament Sunday.
The win over Navy marks Concordia's highest-ranked victory,
and was one of three Eagles victories on the day, as they improve to
5-0 on the season.
Concordia had beaten Fordham (NY) by a score of 18-6 before the victory
over Navy, and later downed Penn State Behrend, 18-3, to close out a
perfect tournament.
In addition to the combined seven goals from Skaljac and Donovan,
Concordia picked up a pair of goals from senior driver
Jure Belamaric
and a goal each from sophomore driver
Duje Grubisic and senior driver
Derrek Danna in the win.
Freshman goalie
Martin Babovic nabbed four saves and came away with five steals as he and the Concordia defense held Navy to a season-low tying four goals. Sophomore driver
Caleb Hamilton made three field blocks as well to help secure the victory.
The Eagles next play in the Inland Empire Classic next Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 12-13) in La Verne.
