SANTA CRUZ, CA --- Concordia took an early 1-0 advantage, and came back to tie the game at 2-2 on an 89th-minute goal from senior midfielder Ryan Angell, but UC Santa Cruz picked up an overtime golden goal from C.J. Villalobos to down the Eagles, 3-2.

The loss is the the third in the past four games for the NAIA's No. 9-ranked Eagles, who fall to 3-3 on the season. Villalobos tucked away two goals in the win for the Banana Slugs, who improve to 5-0-1.

Concordia grabbed an early advantage in the sixth minute, when sophomore forward Kyle Hollomon scored his first goal of the season to make it a 1-0 game.

Villalobos answered with his first goal of the game in the 15th minute, and the Slugs took the lead at 2-1 on a goal from Matt Fondy at 21:21, holding the lead for more than 67 minutes.

Angell would score with just 1:17 left in the game to force an overtime period, but Villalobos scored in the 99th minute to give UC Santa Cruz the 3-2 victory.

Concordia wraps up its two-game road trip with a showdown at Holy Names Saturday (Sept. 19) at 2 p.m.
