IRVINE, CA --- Six different Eagles found the net, as the NAIA's No. 13-ranked Concordia took a 6-1 lead into halftime en route to earning a 6-2 victory over Fresno Pacific in Golden State Athletic Conference play Saturday.

The Eagles improve to 6-3 overall, including a 2-0 mark in GSAC play thanks to the scoring outburst, which marks Concordia's highest goal output since a 10-0 victory over San Diego Christian Oct. 8 of last year.

Fresno Pacific was out-shot 20-11, and managed only five shots on-goal, as the Sunbirds fall to 4-3-1, 0-2-1 GSAC.

"We've been talking about trying to get that breakout win, where everything comes together, and today happened to be that day, where everything clicked," first-year head coach Chris Gould said. "The guys worked really hard on both sides of the ball, and I think they did a fantastic job. We've still got some work to do, but there was a lot more concentration today."

Senior defender Joel Smith picked up the Eagles' first goal of the day when senior midfielder Jon Fahey found him on a cross, and Smith knocked in his third goal of the season at 10:25 in the first half.

The Eagles then led, 2-0, when junior forward Roi Castro converted another centering pass, this time from sophomore forward Kyle Hollomon in the 21st minute.

Senior midfielder Ryan Angell punched in a free kick from 25 yards out to make it a 3-0 game in the 29th minute, and the next four goals of the game were scored within five minutes of each other to make it a 6-1 game heading into halftime.

Angell's goal was followed up by a tally from Fahey midway through the 33rd minute, and Hollomon scored on a breakaway later in the same minute to make it a 5-0 game.

Fresno Pacific scored its first goal of the game when Nehemias Blanco hammered a free kick into the back of the net in the 36th minute, and Concordia junior midfielder Mickey Mendoza scored early in the 38th minute thanks to the second assist on the day from sophomore midfielder Shanon Murphy.

Fresno Pacific scored its second goal of the game in the 87th minute, when a shot from Paul Islas deflected off the post and into the net to make the final score 6-2.

Concordia junior goalkeeper Mike Radchuk made three saves on the afternoon, while Fresno Pacific's Gildardo Villarruel made eight saves to hold the Eagles scoreless in the second half.

The Eagles are next in action Tuesday (Oct. 6), when they take on the NAIA's No. 4-ranked Azusa Pacific starting at 3 p.m. in Azusa.
