IRVINE, CA --- After posting an eight-save effort to prevent the NAIA's No. 20-ranked Biola from earning its second upset in the space of a week this past Saturday (Oct. 17), junior goalkeeper Mike Radchuk was named the GSAC Defensive Player of the Week Monday.

Radchuk, who has started each of the past seven games for the No. 16 Concordia after playing his way into the starting lineup in mid-September, nabbed 11 saves on a week that included a 2-0 win over Vanguard last Tuesday.

In Saturday's 1-1 tie with Biola, Radchuk made several game-prolonging saves, including a memorable one-handed diving stab with just 13 minutes left in regulation.

The only goal he allowed during the week came on a penalty kick against Biola in the 23rd minute, but he held Biola scoreless throughout the last 87 minutes of the game, including two overtime periods.

Radchuk, a former standout at Irvine Valley College, is fifth in the Golden State Athletic Conference with a 1.07 goals-against average.

The Eagles (8-4-1, 4-1-1 GSAC) are back in action Wednesday (Oct. 21) at San Diego Christian, starting at 3 p.m. in El Cajon.
