EL CAJON, CA --- Junior forward
Carlos Suarez scored the golden goal in the first half, and the NAIA's
No. 18-ranked Concordia saved the best for the last with late goals in
both halves in a 4-0 win over San Diego Christian Wednesday afternoon.
In improving to 9-4-1, including 5-1-1 in Golden State Athletic Conference play, Concordia out-shot its opponent by a 19-2 margin, as San Diego Christian drops to 3-11, 0-7 GSAC with the loss.
Suarez netted the eventual game-winner in the 45th minute, one-touching a pass from sophomore forward
Kyle Hollomon to close out the first half.
The Eagles then waited 35 minutes for their second goal, which Hollomon scored thanks to a long pass by senior defender
Joel Smith, and they scored their third goal of the contest 1:19 later, when junior forward Bruno Sad placed a shot just out of the reach of goalkeeper Christopher Cozzi to make it a 3-0 lead.
Concordia closed out the victory on a goal from senior forward
Eric Mendoza, who scored his first goal of the season in just his second appearance of the year after fighting through an injury throughout the campaign.
The Eagles next host No. 22-ranked and current GSAC leader The Master's this Saturday (Oct. 24) in the regular-season home finale, starting at 2 p.m. at Eagles Field.
