FULLERTON, CA --- Coming into
Tuesday's matchup, Hope International's 1-7 mark in Golden State
Athletic Conference play may have made the Royals easy to overlook, but
nonetheless, they shocked No. 21 Concordia with a 1-0 upset.
The loss is Concordia's first ever in 15 head-to-head games against the Royals, who pick up their second GSAC win of the season to improve to 8-8-1, including 2-7 in GSAC games.
Concordia drops to 8-4-3, 5-3-1 GSAC thanks to its second 1-0 loss in a row.
The Royals got onto the scoreboard with the game's only goal in the 21st minute, when Harmony Pruett tucked away a ball that the Eagles defense had failed to clear the ball from their defensive third on a throw-in.
On the offensive end, the Eagles managed only eight shots, including three on-goal, as they were out-shot by an 11-8 margin on the afternoon.
Concordia freshman goalkeeper
Bekah Garvin made a pair of saves, while Hope International's Samantha Franco turned away all three shots on-goal.
The Eagles close out the regular season this Saturday (Oct. 31) at No. 8 California Baptist starting at 12 p.m. in Riverside.
