IRVINE, CA --- As the they have
for each of the previous 11 years, the NAIA's No. 13-ranked Concordia
women's cross country team qualified for the NAIA National
Championships, gaining an at-large berth, it was announced today.
Concordia, which finished fourth at the Golden State Athletic Conference Championships Meet this past weekend, have finished in the top-10 of the 32-team field in each of the past two years, including an eighth-place finish a year ago.
Meanwhile, freshman
Zachary Oliver qualified as an individual for the men. Oliver ran a sixth-place time of 25:58 at the GSAC Meet, his second-lowest time of the 2009 campaign.
The women's squad are led by the trio of sophomores
Violet Mokaya and
Rocio Pelayo and freshman
Jennifer Mallen, who all three finished in the top-10 of the final pre-nationals meet.
Both teams will compete Nov. 21 at Vancouver National Historical Reserve in Vancouver, Wash., in the 54th running of the NAIA meet.
