Concordia's 25-23, 15-25, 25-21, 25-22 victory gives the Eagles a 27-7 record
on the season, while Morningside falls to 31-8 and immediately needs both Concordia and Texas at Brownsville to take a pool play loss to have a chance of
continuing on at the NAIA National Championships.
The Eagles hit a combined .156 (20-10-64) in the first two sets, while
Morningside posted a .571 (14-2-21) hitting clip in set No. 2 to make it a 1-1
match heading to the third.
With the momentum of the match in question heading to the third set, opposites
Brooke Marino and Amber Ridens both stepped up their game, notching five kills
apiece in a 25-21 win that wrested control from Morningside en route to the
win.
Ridens and Marino ended with 15 and 14 kills, respectively, as Marino hit an
error-less .667 (14-0-21) to give Concordia a leg-up in Pool D.
Senior outside hitter Stephanie Darnall and sophomore outside hitter Serrina
Russo posted eight and six kills, respectively, but also combined for 11
hitting errors while earning a combined 28 digs in the win.
The Eagles next take on Bellevue (NE), which is fresh off a three-game sweep at
the hand of Texas at Brownsville, Wednesday (Dec. 2), starting at 3:45 PST.
