IRVINE, CA --- With a first-place finish at the season-opening Pacific Coast Swim Conference Meet back in early October and strong showings since, both Concordia men's and women's swim teams earned a spot in the first of the campaign's three NAIA Coaches' Polls, released today.

The men earn their highest-ever rating of No. 2 after spending two of last year's three voting sequences at No. 4 before posting a third-place effort at the team's second-ever appearance at the NAIA National Championships.

Concordia's women, who finished at sixth in the NAIA National Championships, crack the Top-5 ratings for the first time in school history, at No. 4 to start the 2009-10 season.

The Eagles most recently competed at the Finis Collegiate Invitational in Long Beach, where the men came in fifth and the women posted a sixth-place performance.

CUI next swims at California Baptist, where the Eagles will take on the NAIA's defending champion CBU and top-ranked Fresno Pacific men's teams. CBU's women are ranked fifth, while FPU starts the season as No. 1 in the women's voting to complete the sweep.
