COSTA MESA, CA --- A total of 30 turnovers by the Eagles bloomed into 44 points off the giveaways by the NAIA's No. 5-ranked Vanguard, as the Lions handed Concordia its most lopsided loss of the year with a 95-44 victory in GSAC play Tuesday night.
Concordia falls to 9-7, including 2-6 in Golden State Athletic Conference play, while Vanguard improves to 10-2, 6-2 GSAC, with the win.
Vanguard took a 36-20 lead into the locker room and exploded with 59 points in the second half, where the Lions out-shot the Eagles 48 percent (19-for-40) to 24 percent (5-for-21).
Five Lions finished in double-digit scoring, including Diana Neves and Rachel Copeland, who put up 22 and 21 points, each, in the win.
Concordia was led by 15 points from senior guard
Kayanna Nichols, but the next-highest scorer was junior guard
Tyler Howard, who finished with six points on a pair of treys.

Vanguard quickly reversed the Eagles' lead when Copeland hit a trey to start a 17-2 rally that made it a 21-11 contest midway through the first half.
Overall, CUI shot 29 percent (13-for-45), while Vanguard hit 39 percent (30-for-77) of its attempts from the field and 39 percent (14-for-36) of its shots from beyond the arc.
Concordia next hosts Fresno Pacific this Saturday (Jan. 23), starting at 5:30 p.m. at CU Arena.
