IRVINE, CA --- The first three quarters were neck-and-neck in Concordia's second lacrosse game of the season, against Pepperdine Saturday afternoon, but the Eagles posted a 10-5 win over the Waves thanks to a 4-0 rally in the final quarter.

The Eagles (2-0) avenged a 7-2 loss at the hands of the Waves in the 2009 season.

Early in the fourth quarter, CUI freshman attacker Thomas Seaman fed freshman midfielder Cameron Tablit, who then beat Pepperdine's goalie to put the Eagles up by two for the first time in the contest. The score was now 7-5 with Concordia on top.

It had been a tight game from the first whistle, with two scrappy and determined teams going at it. After the first quarter, the score was tied at 2-2, and CUI led by a 4-3 tally heading to the half before carrying a 6-5 advantage to the fourth quarter.

After Tablit's goal, the Waves attempted to get momentum back, but tallies were added by Concordia Seaman, junior attacker Stewart Fritchle, and sophomore midfielder Robert Catalano to seal the victory 10-5.

Seaman led the scoring for the Eagles with three goals and three assists. Tablit added two goals and three assists, and Catalano had two goals and an assist. Fritchle also added two tallies, and senior midfielder Josh Munz tacked on a goal to round out the scoring.

Freshmen Seth Gordon and Marcus Turner supported the scoring with one assist each.

Junior goalie GM Ciallella cashed in another strong game, saving 17 of 22 shots on cage.

"It was a tough battle for three quarters, then the boys just out-hustled them," head coach Will McMinn said. "I am proud of our players for their tenacity, and for sticking together when it was tight. That kind of game makes us stronger. It gives us good momentum going into game 3 against UC Irvine."

The Eagles face UCI next Saturday at 1 p.m. at Eagle Field. UCI defeated the upstart Eagles last season 13-5, so Concordia will be looking to even up another score next week.
