SANTA BARBARA --- The Eagles won five individual events and brought their number of NAIA National Championships qualifiers to four women and two men in a non-team scoring event at rain-drenched Westmont Saturday afternoon.
Concordia senior Aybuke Keehn ran a first-place time of 5:19.34 in the 1,600 yard run, and sophomore Tanya Brammer qualified for the national meet with an event-best 5.45 meters in the long jump.
Sophomore Violet Mokaya qualified as well, posting a 5K time of 17:47.91.
"Our recent performance in a rainy climate speaks highly of our team spirit," head coach Martin Gonzalez said. "The team demonstrated poise and positive attitudes under adverse circumstances, and I am very proud of the way we represented Concordia University at the meet."
Brammer and Mokaya's qualifying marks put them in company with Keehn (1K) and freshman Jennifer Mallen (5K), along with men's shot-put freshmen Caleb McCurry and Nick Robinson.
The Eagles next compete at the Azusa Pacific Qualifier this Saturday (Feb. 13), starting at 9 a.m. in Azusa.
