IRVINE, CA --- Sophomore forward Cameron Gliddon scored 20 points, including 12 in the second half, as the NAIA's No. 3-ranked Concordia held on to down No. 16-ranked The Master's College by a final score of 79-75 in a game where the lead changed eight times throughout.

Gliddon hit four of the team's five three-pointers, and the Eagles sunk 22 of 28 attempts from the charity stripe, compared to a 10-for-19 performance by the Mustangs, as CUI improves to 22-2, including 12-2 in Golden State Athletic Conference play.

The Mustangs brought the game to within two points in the final minute on a bucket from Joey Fuca that made it a 74-72 tally with 54 seconds left, but fall to 16-8, including 9-5 in GSAC competition.

Fuca scored a game-high 22 points, but missed a pair of crucial free throws that would have brought the score within one point with just nine seconds to play, leaving the door open for sophomore center Andre Murillo to seemingly ice the game with a 2-for-2 effort from the line that made it 78-73 with eight seconds on the clock.

Fuca responded with a clutch field goal to bring the game to within three points, but senior guard Terrence Worthy went 1-for-2 from the line after taking a foul with one second left to make the final score 79-75.

"I thought we did a better job tonight of playing hard on every possession," head coach Ken Ammann said. "Every team in our conference has gotten so much better as the season has gone along, and it's been a bit harder for us to make that jump with the way we started the year."

"The Master's is a really good team and they were playing at a high level tonight, so it took a lot of concentration to stay with them."

Murillo scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds and junior guard Justin Johnson scored 16 points, dealt out four assists and went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line before fouling out with 1:48 to play.

The Master's took a 38-37 lead into the break and built up as much as a seven-point lead when Fuca knocked down a trey to make the score 48-41 with 16:56 left in the game. From that point, six different Eagles collaborated on a 14-4 rally that gave CUI the lead for good, at 55-52 with 11:56 to go.

Gliddon hit a pair of triples to give Concordia a seven-point lead with 9:41 to play, but The Master's responded with six points in a row to make it a 63-62 contest.

Murillo scored a layup to make the score 70-62 with 5:36 remaining, giving the Eagles their first eight-point lead of the game, and it wasn't until the one-minute mark that Fuca and the Mustangs drew within three points or less.

Junior forward Brandon Hucks came off the bench to score 11 points and grab five board for Concordia, whcih was out-scored 24-16 from the bench throughout the game.

TMC's Leif Karlberg and Raphael Harris scored 13 and 12 points, respectively.

The Eagles next play at California Baptist this Saturday (Feb. 13), starting at 7:30 p.m. in Riverside.
