LONG BEACH, CA --- Entering the last day of competition at the 2010 Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference Championships, the NAIA's No. 4-ranked Concordia men are holding at fourth place, while the No. 4 women are eighth.
Friday's highlights included three top-5 finishes from the men, who have racked up 636 points heading into the final day. The women picked up a pair of first-place NAIA times, and have 331 points three days into the event.
On the men's side, Mike Perry turned in a time of 1:42.02 in the 200 free, good for fifth place overall and second among NAIA competitors, and Craig Brazier touched out at a 10th-place time of 1:43.90, which was third against NAIA opponents.
In the 100 breast, Tim Warnock swam a seventh-place (third in NAIA) mark of 59.32, and the tandem of Aaron Woods (59.32) and Richard Hall (53.00) finished fourth and ninth, respectively, in the 100 back.
Woods swam the first leg of a 400 medley relay team that combined for a fifth-place swim of 3:30.71. Peter Brecht, Weston Locatell and Eric Anderssen also swam on the squad, which ranked third of NAIA teams.
Ana Gomez and Ali Berrien each turned in a first-place NAIA performance in their respective events. Gomez swam a seventh-place overall time of 4:39.28 in the 400 IM, while Berrien touched out at 1:07.17 in the 100 breast, good for eighth overall.
In the 100 back, Valerie Throp finished seventh overall and third among NAIA foes with a time of 57.57 to add to Concordia's 331-point total after three days of action.
The event concludes Saturday night in finals competition at Belmont Plaza Pool in Long Beach.
