RIVERSIDE, CA --- When the GSAC world wakes up Sunday morning, it may be able to add one more definition to the word "unbelievable."

After his running half-court, buzzer-beating game-winning shot to down California Baptist, 68-65, Justin Johnson's likeness just might appear in Mr. Webster's book.

It was Johnson's second buzzer-beating, game-winner this year, but this one was in a category all its own (view the YouTube clip here).

With just over two seconds to get from Point A to Point B, Justin Johnson somehow made his way from the opposite baseline to halfcourt, where he heaved up the game-winning three-pointer, which caught nothing but the bottom of the net to give the NAIA's No. 3-ranked Concordia the win.

"They tied the game up and all I wanted to do was to get the ball," Johnson, who scored a game-high 22 points, said. "I didn't want to panic, I just wanted to get it halfcourt and shoot it. It was a miracle."

Johnson had banked in a layup to give Concordia a 63-61 victory Jan. 23 at CU Arena, and was an obvious choice to take the ball down the floor following a crowd-rallying steal-and-layup from California Baptist that knotted the score at 65-65.

CBU's Justus Von Wright forced the steal with seven seconds on the clock and buried the game-tying layup, putting the homecoming crowd of 1,112 in a frenzy, but Johnson's running trey helped the Eagles to avoid overtime at Van Dyne Gym.

"Tonight was a special night and this is a special group, it's right up there with our great teams," head coach Ken Ammann said. "Tonight was a hard-fought ballgame against a great team. This is a tough place to play, and CBU always plays their best ball at home. They had some great performances tonight, but we were able to pull it out with a great team effort."

Johnson's clutch shot made up for a scoring drought of just over two minutes, starting with 2:52 left on the clock.

The Eagles held a 63-54 lead at the aforementioned time following a pair of free throws by Johnson, but the Lancers stormed back by forcing two turnovers in the rally, which reached its peak when Von Wright sunk a trey to tie the game at 63-63 with just 51 seconds remaining.

Johnson made a jumper to put his team ahead, 65-63, with 33 seconds left, and the Lancers' Kelly Johnson missed a layup on CBU's ensuing possession, forcing the Lancers to make a full-court press when the Eagles had the ball next.

When Von Wright made his layup to tie the score at 65-65, it looked like the game had overtime written all over it, but Johnson's triple un-tied the game to give Concordia its fourth consecutive win.

"We were all focused on the defensive and offensive ends," Johnson said. "I think we all played good team defense. We were able to stop their key players, and even though we didn't do great on rebounding, we did enough things right to win it."

Playing without NAIA All-American honorable mention guard Terrence Worthy, the Eagles had eight points each from guards Austin Simon and A.J. Gasporra, while sophomore forward Cameron Gliddon notched nine points on a trio of first-half three-pointers.

Sophomore center Andre Murillo scored 15 points and grabbed five rebounds for the Eagles, who were out-boarded by a 29-28 margin.

Von Wright scored 13 points, and CBU also had double-digit contributions from Luke Evans (15), Davey Hopkins (12), Larry Dew (12) and Robert Rose (10).

Concordia improves to 23-2, including 13-2 in Golden State Athletic Conference play, while California Baptist drops to 14-11, 7-8 GSAC, with the loss.

Concordia is next in action this Tuesday (Feb. 16) at GSAC foe Point Loma Nazarene, starting at 7:30 p.m.
