LONG BEACH, CA --- With the Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference Championships wrapped up and the NAIA's No. 4 ranked Concordia men and women standing at second place among NAIA competition, the Eagles have plenty to build on for the upcoming NAIA National Championships.
Concordia's men finished at fourth overall, with 894 points, second among NAIA competitors only to California Baptist, while the women finished eighth of 15 programs with 475 points.
"It has been a very rough and difficult season for many of us, but our performances at this week's meet have made everything seem worthwhile," head coach Ken Dory said.
The women posted three marks that were tops among NAIA foes in the final day of the meet, including a 400 free relay squad of Jessi Cook, Lacy Dooley, Tuesday Schellinger and Ana Gomez that touched out at a time of 3:35.29.
Schellinger swam the 100 free in a time of 53.99 to top all NAIA challengers and finish 15th overall, while Valerie Throp (2:08.89) and Gomez (2:10.01) finished first and third in respect to NAIA foes in the 100 free.
Ali Berrien swam the 200 breast in a time of 2:24.82 to finish 10th overall and second in the NAIA.
On the men's side, Craig Brazier capped off an impressive week with a fourth-place swim of 1:52.21 in the 200 back, while Eric Anderssen touched out at 46.49 in the 100 free to finish third among NAIA swimmers.
A 400 free relay squad comprised of Mike Perry, Anderssen, Simon Harling and Tanner Remai swam a time of 3:05.79 to finish fourth overall and second in the NAIA.
The Eagles next compete at the NAIA National Championships, held in St. Louis, Mo., March 3-6.
