IRVINE, CA --- Concordia lacrosse moved to 3-0 with a decisive 23-3 win over UC Irvine in front of a home crowd at Eagles Field Saturday, evening up the tally with the Anteaters, who beat Concordia in the latter's inaugural season of 2009.

Freshman attacker Thomas Seaman and sophomore middie Robert Catalano set the pace for the Eagles, factoring into a game-high eight goals apiece. Seaman scored two goals and dealt out six assists, while Catalano complemented Seaman's numbers with a career-high six goals and two assists.

Junior attacker Stewart Fritchle added five goals and two assists, as freshman attackman Marcus Turner had a breakout game with five goals and an assist.

Chris Arzola, a first-year junior attacker, also put up solid numbers with two goals and two assists. Rounding out the scoring for the Eagles were freshman middie Cam Tablit (one goal, one assist), freshman middie Caleb Cox (one goal), junior middie Ryan Haste (one goal) and sophomore defenseman Timmy Crown, who had a nice assist on a fast break.

The Eagles didn't waste any time creating momentum, as they scored the first three goals of the contest. UC Irvine scored its first goal halfway through the first quarter, but Concordia answered with three unanswered goals, stretching the margin to 6-1 by the end of the first quarter. By halftime, the Eagles had extended their lead to 14-1.

The Eagles scored nine more goals in the second half to bring the final score to 23-3.

"I have to hand it to the UCI players, those guys never gave up," head coach Will McMinn said. "That is impressive, given that they were light on substitutes, and had to be exhausted going into the fourth quarter."

UCI had some opportunities on the offensive side, but junior goalie GM Ciallella turned in another impressive performance, saving over 80 percent of shots on-cage.

The Eagle defense has allowed only 11 goals in three games so far this year.

CUI is back in action at MCLA Div. I opponent UC San Diego Saturday, Feb. 20 at 1 p.m.

"I am impressed with how much our guys enjoy playing together, and how much they support each other both on and off the field," McMinn said. "Next Saturday's game against UCSD will be a good test for us."
