IRVINE, CA --- After a year-long hiatus from the top of the Golden State Athletic Conference, the NAIA's No. 2-ranked Concordia is the conference champion once again, as tonight's 80-52 win over Vanguard clinched the third GSAC title in school history, all coming in the past four years.

The Eagles head into the final two games of the regular season with a 26-2 record, including 16-2 in GSAC play, while Vanguard falls to 5-19, 4-14 GSAC.

Vanguard point guard Greg Scott scored a game-high 28 points, but no other player on his team reached double-figures while Concordia sophomore forward Cameron Gliddon led five double-digit scorers with 16 points.

Gliddon, along with junior guard A.J. Gasporra, hit four treys on the night for the Eagles, who ended with their highest three-point total of the GSAC campaign, at 11 triples in the clinching win.

The Eagles used a 13-2 run late in the first half to turn a two-point deficit into a 32-23 lead with 2:53 remaining, as senior guard Terrence Worthy hit a pair of shots from three-point range and Gasporra knocked down a triple in the run.

Leading by a 39-32 clip two minutes into the second half, Gliddon hit a trey that would set the Eagles on a 17-2 run where five different players chipped in at least one basket to the effort to give CUI a 56-34 advantage with 13:42 left on the clock.

Gasporra scored 13 points, while sophomore center Andre Murillo and Dominic Cruz-Duncan scored 11 and 10 points, respectively. Worthy also finished with 10 points and forced three steals.

Reigning GSAC Player of the Week Justin Johnson, the first player in school history to win the award twice in a single season, scored eight points and dealt out three assists. It was the fourth time all year that Johnson did not score double-digits.

The Eagles committed just eight turnovers and forced 21 Vanguard give-aways to out-score the Lions by a 26-9 margin in the points-off-turnovers category.

Concordia next plays at 2009 GSAC Champion and No. 15 Fresno Pacific, which had its eight-game winning streak snapped tonight against Westmont, Saturday (Feb. 27) starting at 4:30 p.m. in Fresno.
