ASHLAND, OR --- After getting one-hit in the opener, an 8-0 loss to its counterpart in Oregon, the NAIA's No. 11-ranked Concordia pounded out 13 hits in a 6-5 win over tournament host Southern Oregon, in day two of the Southern Oregon Tournament.

The Eagles (9-3) also split yesterday, falling by a 2-0 tally against Northwest Christian before earning a 5-4 win over Oregon Tech.

A trio of Eagles went 3-for-4 in today's win over Southern Oregon, as CUI pounced out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, which was powered by a two-out, two-run single by sophomore shortstop Alyssa Erickson.

Southern Oregon picked two runs in the home half of the first inning, but the Eagles made it a 5-2 ballgame in the third on RBI singles from sophomore center fielder Brieana Eckel and senior right fielder Alicia Leto.

Eckel singled in another run in the fourth after Southern Oregon scored in the third, stretching the CUI lead to 6-3, a cushion that came in particularly handy when Southern Oregon rallied for two runs in the home half of the sixth, making the final score 6-5.

Sophomore right-hander Jennifer Simons picked up the win with five innings in relief, where she allowed two earned runs on three hits and two walks against one strikeout.

Senior catcher Melanie Hansen had Concordia's only hit in the tilt against Concordia-Oregon, a double. Senior righty Rachel Reekstin took the loss after going 1.2 innings, where she allowed five earned runs on four hits and three walks.

The Eagles close out the tournament Saturday (Feb. 27), starting with an 11 a.m. re-match against Southern Oregon.
