FRESNO, CA --- Despite a career-high 29 points from junior guard Nicole Fu, Concordia missed a key chance to pull into a two-way tie for the eighth and final berth to the GSAC Playoffs heading into the final regular-season game of the year, with an 84-77 loss at Fresno Pacific Saturday night.
 
The Eagles fall to 11-16, and at 4-15 in Golden State Athletic Conference play, trail ninth-place Fresno Pacific and California Baptist by one game heading into the season finale.
 
Fresno Pacific ends the night at 8-21, 5-14 in GSAC.
 
Powered by 17 turnovers by the Sunbirds in the first half alone, Concordia led by as much as 16 points in the first half, and carried a 40-31 lead into the break.
 
The Eagles also held a 12-point lead at 51-39 early in the second half, but the lead soon evaporated on a 13-0 Sunbird run that gave FPU its first lead of the game over six minutes into the second half.
 
With 8:37 left on the game, Fu hit a trey to put Concordia in the lead at 62-61, and CUI held the lead at 68-63 on another field goal from Fu with 5:44 remaining.
 
Fresno Pacific gained the lead for good at 77-75 on a bucket from Jessica Mazza with 1:44 left to play.
 
Jessica Torrecillas scored 28 points and went 10-for-10 from the free-throw line off the bench, while fellow reserves Michele Rebozzi and Tineka Spencer scored 19 and 11 points, respectively, as FPU scored 65 points off the bench.
 
Mazza ended with 15 points.
 
Aside from Fu's 29-point production, the Eagles picked up double-digit efforts from junior forward Karen Carney and junior guard Britnie Priest, who posted 12 and 11 points on the night.
 
Concordia wraps up its regular season this Monday (March 1), hosting San Diego Christian starting at 5:30 p.m. at CU Arena.
