FRESNO, CA --- In the game after they clinched their third Golden State Athletic Conference title, the NAIA's No. 2-ranked Eagles kept their momentum alive, shooting 50 percent (25-for-50) from the field in a 63-59 win over No. 15-ranked and 2009 GSAC champion Fresno Pacific.

Concordia wins its eighth in a row to head into the regular-season finale with a record of 27-2, just one win away from last year's victory total, including a 17-2 mark in GSAC play.

Fresno Pacific falls to 22-7, 12-7 GSAC with its second consecutive loss after winning eight in a row.

Junior guard Justin Johnson scored a team-high 13 points while senior forward Dominic Cruz-Duncan netted 12 points. Junior center Ben Smith played 10 minutes off the bench after missing nine games in a row with an injury.

Concordia, which sweeps the season series against the Sunbirds, held a 29-20 advantage at the break and never trailed throughout the game.

Sophomore guard Cameron Gliddon hit a trey with 9:08 left in the game to give CUI its first 13-point lead of the game, at 50-37, and the Eagles scored only three more field goals the rest of the way, the last coming on a field goal from junior guard A.J. Gasporra with 5:54 remaining.

Following Gasporra's bucket, CUI hit just 7-for-15 from the free-throw line the rest of the way, opening the door for Fresno Pacific to draw to within striking distance before the Eagles closed out the game at 63-59.

Gliddon hit three treys to account for his nine points, while Gasporra scored eight points. Sophomore center Andre Murillo scored seven points and grabbed four rebounds.

The Eagles close out the regular season with a matchup against San Diego Christian this Monday (March 1), starting at 7:30 p.m. at CU Arena. Concordia will also host a first-round opponent in the GSAC Tournament this Thursday, March 4, starting at 7:30 p.m.
