FRESNO, CA --- Concordia scored a total of three runs in the first inning of games one and two combined, and led both heading into the bottom of the third, but the NAIA's No. 9 Fresno Pacific rallied in the third inning in each end of a 9-5, 12-4 sweep of the Eagles.

The Sunbirds went deep four times on the day, including a pair of second-game grand slams, to improve to 13-1, including a 5-1 mark in Golden State Athletic Conference play, while the Eagles fall to 8-9, 1-7 GSAC with the pair of losses.

Freshman right-hander Ryan Goodbrand took the loss in game one, falling to 1-1 on the season, after he allowed eight runs (seven earned) on 11 hits, no walks and two strikeouts in 4.1 frames.

Junior lefty Melvin Blackmon Jr. was saddled with the game-two loss after allowing 10 runs (eight earned) on seven hits and three walks in 3+ innings of work.

Blackmon Jr. was chased in the fourth on the Sunbirds' second bases-clearing blast of the game, by Case Rigby, who proved himself to be an overall menace with seven hits that included three doubles and two homers and eight RBI over the four-game series Wednesday and Friday.

Fresno Pacific's DH, Jeff Taylor, finished the weekend with six hits, including a grand slam in the third inning that made it a 6-3 game at that point.

Concordia sophomore left fielder Kyle Konicek finished the day with three hits and four RBI, while senior center fielder Pete Lemone scored three runs on the day.

The Eagles were thrown out on the basepaths four times and hit into two double-plays in the opener, and made three errors that led to three unearned runs in the nightcap.

Concordia next hosts Illinois Tech in non-conference play this Monday (March 8), starting at 2 p.m. at Eagle Field.
