ST. PETERS, MO --- Concordia diver Christine Runkle capped off a sweep of the boards with a national title dive in the 3-meter to highlight Day 3 of the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships, where the women are fourth and the men are fifth.

Runkle's 3-meter mark of 232.80 earned 20 points for the women's team, which trails third-place Fresno Pacific by 25 points heading into the final day of the meet.

Alison Berrien became a national champion in the 100 breast, edging the second-place finisher by just five-hundredths of a second, touching out at 1:03.94 to garner the national title.

"This is the first time that we've ever had individual champions at nationals, so this is a big day for our program," head coach Ken Dory said. "We have a shot at third place for the women, and so we're very happy with the team's performance. It's been our best showing so far at nationals."

Concordia swam to a third-place finish in the 400 medley relay, finishing at 3:56.85 with a team made up of Allison Duran, Berrien, Ana Gomez, and Tuesday Schellinger.

The 200 free relay squad, comprised of Schellinger, Jordyn Gosney, Lindsay Larson and anchored by Gomez swam a fourth-place time of 1:38.86 in the finals, racking up 30 of the team's 191 points heading into Saturday's events.

Gomez turned in a third-place mark of 4:38.20 in the 400 IM to garner All-American honors, while Katie Moore finished fifth in the event with a time of 4:39.87.

On the men's side, Eric Anderssen anchored a 200 free relay squad that finished with a second-place mark of 1:22.28 and also featured Simon Harling, Luke Noll and Mike Perry.

Anderssen finished fourth in the 100 back, edged by teammate Craig Brazier, who posted a third-place All-American time of 50.52 to Anderssen's 50.60.

"The men are putting out a very good effort and we have a shot of moving into fourth on the last day," Dory said. "We've had good performances so far, and we're expecting to finish strong on Saturday."

Distance free leads off Saturday's final day action, concluding with the 400 free relay.
