JOHNSON CITY, TN --- A ninth-place finish by Violet Mokaya in the 3K highlighted the Concordia women's performance at the 2010 NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships, while Nick Robinson defended the Eagles' individual shot put crown.
Robinson followed in the footsteps of two-time national champion Chad Smith with a throw of 58' 3.00 to win the national crown, while teammate Caleb McCurry heaved a shot put distance of 54' 10.75 to capture fifth place in the event.
The Concordia men finished 18th of 42 teams on the strength of its throwers, who were CUI's only two participants on the men's side.
Mokaya turned in a time of 10:19.29 in the 3K, as Tanya Brammer finished 10th and 11th in the long jump and high jump, respectively, going distances of 5.57 meters and 1.60 meters.
Next on the agenda for Concordia track and field is the outdoor season, which begins Saturday, March 27, at Point Loma Nazarene, starting at 10 a.m.
