LA MIRADA, CA --- The NAIA's top-ranked Concordia led early, but No. 15 Azusa Pacific ended the first half on a 19-5 run from which the Eagles never quite recovered in a 70-66 loss Tuesday night in the GSAC Postseason Tournament Finals.

All is not lost for the Eagles, who end the night at 30-3 and will find out their seeding in the 73rd Annual Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship tomorrow.

Azusa Pacific earns the GSAC Postseason Tournament crown after hitting 52 percent (23-for-44) from the floor and will head to College Basketball's Toughest Tournament at 24-9.

GSAC Player of the Year Justin Johnson scored a game-high 21 points for Concordia, and his jumper pulled the Eagles to within three points, at 67-64, with 17 seconds left after they had trailed, 64-54, with 2:15 remaining.

That was as close as regular-season GSAC champion Concordia would come, however, as APU's Reggie Owens went 1-for-2 with 16 seconds remaining, and All-GSAC selection Dominique Johnson hit both of his free throws to ice the game in the final 10 seconds.

The Eagles picked up 11 points and eight boards from junior forward Brandon Hucks, who played a valuable 23 minutes off the bench, as All-GSAC senior guard Terrence Worthy scored seven points but hit just one of four three-point opportunities on the night.

Sophomore forward Cameron Gliddon chipped in eight points, while sophomore center Andre Murillo scored eight points in the losing effort.

Concordia shot an uncharacteristic 55 percent (12-for-22) from the charity stripe in its second loss to Azusa Pacific this season.

The Eagles will wait to discover their seeding and First Round opponent at their eighth NAIA tournament appearance in school history. The tournament is slated for March 17-23 at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo.
