IRVINE, CA --- The Eagle offense capitalized on 10 errors by its opponent, and the Eagle pitching came one out away from posting back-to-back no-hitters, as the NAIA's No. 11-ranked Concordia took care of Concordia-Chicago by scores of 10-0 and 13-1 in non-conference play Friday.

Concordia improves to 17-7 on the campaign, while its sister-school from Illinois falls to 0-8.

Freshman left-hander Morgan Reiter pitched to just one batter over the minimum in her five innings of work to post a no-hitter in the opener and improve to 4-0 on the campaign, and the Eagles scored seven runs in the second inning to stretch a 3-0 lead into a 10-0 cushion.

The Rally was fueled by two-run singles by NAIA All-American first baseman Katie Carson and sophomore shortstop Alyssa Erickson, and Carson singled in a run later in the inning as Concordia batted around.

Carson had led off the bottom of the first with a triple and scored on an RBI single from sophomore third baseman Jennifer Simons, who scored along with senior catcher Melanie Hansen on the Cougars' second error of the inning to make the score 3-0 after one full inning of play.

In game two, junior right-hander Kristen Schlegel (1-0) picked up the win with four no-hit frames, but she struggled with her command in the process, issuing eight walks in 18 batters faced.

The Eagles scored at least two runs in all four of their offensive innings in the nightcap, with Carson and junior catcher Carly Smith each cracking a three-run homer in the process.

Erickson smacked a hard two-run double and later scored in the bottom of the fourth, as the Eagles answered the Cougars' lone run of the game, scored on a bases-loaded free pass in the top of the inning.

The Cougars' only hit of the day was by catcher Colleen Mullaney, who drove a hard single off Simons, who pitched a scoreless fifth to close out the day's events.

The Eagles turn around and return to GSAC action at Hope International tomorrow (March 13), starting at 12 p.m. at Craig Park in Fullerton.
