SAN DIEGO, CA --- Freshman Caleb McCurry won both the shot put and discus competitions and improved his automatic qualifying marks in both events, while the Eagles set a pair of school records on the women's side at the Point Loma Nazarene Collegiate Scoring Meet.
McCurry, who has already qualified for U.S. Junior Nationals, improved his shot put mark with a toss of 55 feet even, nearly three feet further than the nearest opponent. He also threw the discus a distance of 147'4".
On the women's side, sophomore Tanya Brammer set a new school record with an automatic qualifer at 5'6" with a first-place finish in the high jump.
Freshman Kelsey Monticalvo, already the school record-holder in the indoor pole vault at 9'09.25", set a school-record with an outdoor pole vault height of 9'02.50" in Saturday's action.
Other provisional marks for qualification to the NAIA National Outdoor Track and Field National Championships May 27-29 included sophomore Violet Mokaya's 1,500 meter time of 4:45.67.
Freshman Jennifer Mallen and sophomore Jordan Baker both finished seventh in their respective events, as Mallen turned in a 5K time of 18:22.70 and Baker finshed the 400 meter hurdle with in a time of 1:04.77.
Freshman Angela Jaeger ran the 400 meter hurldes in a personal-best mark of 1:06.60, finishing fifth.
Concordia next competes April 10 at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational starting at 8 a.m. in Claremont.
