POMONA, CA --- Concordia posted automatic qualifiers in five events for the 2010 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, and notched or improved upon three provisional qualifying marks, as the Eagles competed at the Pomona-Pitzer Track and Field Invitational.
 
Three Concordia women qualified automatically for the national meet, including Aybuke Keehn, who ran the 1500 meters in an eighth-place time of 4:40.41, while Violet Mokaya won the 5K with a time of 17:38.07 and punched a ticket to nationals with the effort.
 
The 5K time was a personal best for Mokaya, who has already ran a provisional qualifer in the 1500 just two meets into the outdoor schedule.
 
Also qualifying automatically on the women's side was Jordan Baker, who finished fourth in the 400 meter hurdles with a mark of 63.46, improving on her previous mark by more than a second.
 
On the men's side, indoor shot put national champion Nick Robinson qualified automatically with a first-place distance of 17.52m in the shot put, and also punched his ticket in the discus with a mark of 51.84m, good for fourth place at the event.
 
Meanwhile, the trio of Jennifer Mallen, Tanya Brammer and Angela Jaeger all posted a provisional qualfying mark in their respective events.
 
Mallen improved her provisional mark in the 5K with a time of 18:15.19, shaving more than seven seconds off her mark at the outdoor season-opening Point Loma Nazarene Collegiate Scoring Meet, while Brammer finished fourth in the long jump with a distance of 5.53m.
 
Angela Jaeger, meanwhile, set a personal record with a 400 meter hurdles time of 65.14 while getting her foot in the door in a provisional mark.
 
Also on the women's side, the 4x100 meter relay squad comprised of Baker, Brammer, Asia Auberry and Samantha Moser posted a season-best time of 49.61 to finish eighth in the meet.
 
Amy Lund and Auberry both set personal records in two events, as Lund improved her times in the 1500m (4:59.91) and 800m (2:32.00), while Auberry set personal bests in the 100m and 200m with times of 12.52 and 25.89, respectively.
 
On the men's side, Shane Tucker was one of three athletes to post a personal record in his event, with a 15.03m in the shot put, while Bryan Harkins improved his personal mark in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.24.
 
Lamarcus Whiteside improved in the 100 meter and 200 meter dash with times of 11.31 and 23.15, respectively, while Ronnie Norman ran the 400 meter dash at a season-best 23.21.
 
The Eagles are next in action this Thursday and Friday (April 15-16) at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, before ending a busy week at the Azusa Pacific/Bryan Clay Invitational Saturday morning in Azusa.
