SANTA BARBARA, CA --- Concordia's core of freshman throwers continued to make a statement, garnering all three of the top spots in the shot put, as Nick Robinson captured first in both shot put and discus at the Golden State Athletic Conference Championships.
Robinson threw a distance of 17.82 meters in the shot put and won the discus with a toss of 52.05 meters, while Caleb McCurry finished in second place for both events, with throws of 15.77 meters and 45.81 meters, respectively.
Shane Tucker rounded out the top three in shot put, with a distance of 15.32 meters.
The trio's performance secured Concordia's sixth-place finish for the men. The women also finished in sixth, led by Tanya Brammer's second-place high jump of 1.63 meters.
Brammer, who also finished third in the long jump at 5.48 meters, teamed up with Asia Auberry, Jordan Baker and Samantha Moser for a fourth-place showing in the 4x100 relay, crossing the line at 49.57.
Also scoring at the meet, Violet Mokaya came in third in the 10K, finishing in 36:17.48, while Auberry finished third with a time of 12.42 in the 100 meter dash.
Kelsey Wood came in fourth in the high jump, at 1.58 meters.
Concordia next competes at the Occidental Invitational in Los Angeles May 8, which will serve as the final tuneup before the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships May 27-29 in Marion, Ind.
