IRVINE, CA --- Concordia wrapped up its second regular season schedule tied for second place in Div. 2 of the Southwestern Lacrosse Conference with a record of 10-3, showing an impressive turnaround from last year's inaugural season record of 1-8.

The resilience and heart of the core returners from last year, an excellent first recruiting class, and a few gutsy, athletic walk-ons rounded out this year's roster enough to make the lacrossers a tough, competitive matchup for this season's opponents.

The Eagles' three losses this season were each to teams picked as potentials to earn a bid to the National Championships in Denver, Colo. Nationally ranked UC Santa Cruz, a perennial favorite in the WCLL D2 (Northern California), beat Concordia by one goal in a tightly contested game, while Biola (7-0 in conference play last season, 5-2 this season) overcame the Eagles, 8-5, in a hard-fought match in the regular season finale.

Cal State Fullerton, the third preseason pick to contest the SLC conference championship, took it to Concordia by a 15-3 margin in a regular season matchup.

With a 5-2 conference record, Concordia finished tied with Biola and Long Beach State for second in the SLC Div. 2.

The top-four teams will pair off this year and play the semifinals on Saturday, May 1 at the higher seed. Concordia draws the four seed and will play Cal State Fullerton in the opening round, while Long Beach will play at Biola.

Concordia and Cal State Fullerton will play at 1 p.m. at a to-be-determined location.

"We have nothing to lose on Saturday," head coach Will McMinn said. "We will play loose and tough. The boys and I believe that if we play our best game we can compete with anyone, and we are excited about having the opportunity to play for a championship this year."
