CARSON, CA --- When Concordia put NCAA Div. II No. 4-ranked Cal State Dominguez Hills on the 2010 schedule, it was under the now-proven false pretense that the Eagles would be up against an entire team. Taylor Canatsey debunked that myth with a hat trick in a 3-0 win Thursday night.

The Eagles take their second shutout of the season and fall to 2-2, although its first loss of the year was to the NAIA's No. 3-ranked Concordia-Oregon and it preceded tonight's loss to the No. 4-rated NCAA Div. II program.

Canatsey broke through with her first goal in the 43rd minute, when she converted on a give-and-go opportunity that included Natalee Simon, but it was the only goal of the first half for the Toros, who took 10 shots in the first 45 minutes.

She scored again in the 79th minute off an assist from Brooke Thompson, and she added her third goal of the game--her first as a Toro--in the 85th minute to make the final score 3-0.

The Toros out-shot the Eagles by a 15-5 margin overall, while goalkeeper Alyssa Congdon was called upon for only one save as opposed to Concordia sophomore Bekah Garvin, who made four saves on the evening.

Junior midfielder took the only shot on-goal for the Eagles in the 67th minute, and she attempted two of the five shots for Concordia throughout the match.

Concordia is back in action on Sunday (Sept. 5), when the Eagles take on University of Redlands at 2 p.m. in Redlands.
