Fisher's first season at Concordia was truly something to marvel at. He was selected as the GSAC, NAIA and American Volleyball Coaches Association Coach of the Year, becoming the first CUI volleyball coach to earn those honors. His 2011 squad went 37-2 and finished runner-up at the NAIA National Championships in Iowa City, IA. His team spent five weeks at #1 in the NAIA Coaches' Poll and did not lose a match between August 18 and December 3. The team set school records in assists (2165), wins (37), winning percentage (.949), GSAC wins (18), GSAC winning percentage (1.000), and winning streak (36 straight matches). For the first time in school history his squad won the GSAC Championship and had an unblemished 18-0 conference record. They also beat Fresno Pacific on the road and were ranked #1 in the nation for the first time in program history. Junior Brooke Marino was the GSAC, NAIA, and AVCA Player of the Year. The Eagles had three All-GSAC selections, two NAIA All-Americans, two NAIA All-Tournament honorees, and one GSAC Scholar Athlete.
Fisher played for nearly a decade at a variety of elite levels before becoming the top assistant coach in 2004 at his alma mater, D-I power University of Pacific.
He then moved on to D-I programs University of San Francisco (2007-09) and Hawaii (2009-11), where he served as Associate Head Coach for the women's and men's programs, respectively, gaining valuable experience in preparation of his first head coaching position.
At Hawaii he played an integral role in the team's improvement from a 9-18 team in 2009 to a combined 34-23 over his final two seasons, where the team made back-to-back trips to the Mountain Sports Pacific Federation postseason.
Fisher's coaching experience also includes a stint under current U.S. Men's National Team head coach Alan Knipe.
Fisher played his final two collegiate seasons, 1998-99 at Pacific, where he is currently fourth on the all-time charts with 3,007 career assists--highest in school history among two-year players--as a standout setter and team captain.
With his collegiate career behind him, Fisher played two years on the U.S. National Team, beginning in 1999. He also played professional volleyball internationally, making stops in Belgium, Spain and Switzerland. While playing professionally in Switzerland, he also served as head coach for the youth girls' team located in the same town as his professional team, Appenzell-Gonten.
Fisher still is an avid beach volleyball player. He recorded a pair of 13th place finishes while playing on the AVP Tour, along with multiple open wins. Dan also won the 2004 King of the Beach Tournament. He can still be spotted playing on the beaches of southern California.
Fisher, a life-long Lutheran, graduated from University of Pacific in 1999 with his bachelor's degree in sociology and a minor in religious studies, and he then earned a Master of Arts in sports science from UOP in 2008.
Fisher and his wife, Joni, just celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary this August.

An accomplished player-turned-accomplished-coach, Trevor Johnson begins his first season as the top assistant for head coach Dan Fisher.
A four-year starter at former Golden State Athletic Conference member California Baptist, Johnson left as the career leader in assists, and returned to help coach the player who would break his career record in the spring of 2011.
In the five years since his collegiate playing days were over, Johnson has coached both men and women at levels ranging from the NAIA to junior college to NCAA Div. I, most recently serving as assistant men’s and women’s coach at California Baptist.
Johnson helped guide California Baptist men’s volleyball team during its 2011 NAIA National Invitational championship run, which included wins over ranked NCAA foes UC Irvine (No. 2), Stanford (No. 3) and UC Santa Barbara (No. 6).
On the women's side, Johnson’s assistance resulted in the Lancers’ runner-up finish at the 2007 NAIA National Championships. He also served as the top assistant for the 2008 team that finished third at the tournament.
Throughout two stints at California Baptist (2007-09, 2010-11), Johnson assisted in the development of three NAIA All-Americans and one GSAC Player of the Year honoree, while helping produce two AVCA NAIA Player of the Year recipients on the men's side.
A four-year starting setter at California Baptist, Johnson was named to the NAIA National Invitational All-Tournament Team in 2004, as the team won its first of back-to-back titles, repeating in 2005.
Johnson, who garnered league MVP honors twice as a prep and was named 2000 CIF Player of the Year in the season that his team won a state title, trained with the U.S. Men’s National Volleyball team in 2005-06, the year after he graduated from California Baptist. He then began his coaching career as Graduate Strength and Conditioning Coach at Cal State Fullerton in 2006.
Johnson went on to complete his Master’s of Science in kinesiology with a concentration in strength and conditioning at Fullerton, finishing the degree in 2009.
He left his alma mater in 2009 and served as assistant men’s volleyball coach at Long Beach City College, then worked the 2010 season as Director of Women’s Volleyball Operations at Cal State Fullerton.
In addition to his full-time duties as a Concordia assistant coach, Johnson plans to continue his duties as a setters coach with USA High Performance Camp, under the leadership of current U.S. Men’s National Volleyball Team Head Coach Alan Knipe.
Johnson is currently head coach for the Protégé Girls Volleyball Club 17-Elite Team, based out of Whittier.
Johnson's work with Protégé resulted in the team's first-ever appearance at Junior Nationals in 2011, as the team earned a second-place finish at the Las Vegas qualifier, first place at the Minnesota qualifier and third place at the Dallas qualifier.
He holds a USAW Level I Club Coaching certificate and is a National Strength and Conditioning Association certified strength and conditioning specialist.
Johnson and his wife, Jane, have a 2-year-old son, Riley, and live in Downey.
