An accomplished player-turned-accomplished-coach, Trevor Johnson begins his first season as the head coach for men's volleyball.  In 2011, Johnson served as the top assistant for the Concordia women's volleyball team that finished runner-up at the 2011 NAIA National Championship.  Johnson was selected the American Volleyball Coaches Association Southwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year.

A four-year starter at former Golden State Athletic Conference member California Baptist, Johnson left as the career leader in assists, and returned to help coach the player who would break his career record in the spring of 2011.

In the five years since his collegiate playing days were over, Johnson has coached both men and women at levels ranging from the NAIA to junior college to NCAA Div. I, most recently serving as assistant men's and women's coach at California Baptist.

Johnson helped guide California Baptist men's volleyball team during its 2011 NAIA National Invitational championship run, which included wins over ranked NCAA foes UC Irvine (No. 2), Stanford (No. 3) and UC Santa Barbara (No. 6).

On the women's side, Johnson's assistance resulted in the Lancers' runner-up finish at the 2007 NAIA National Championships. He also served as the top assistant for the 2008 team that finished third at the tournament.

Throughout two stints at California Baptist (2007-09, 2010-11), Johnson assisted in the development of three NAIA All-Americans and one GSAC Player of the Year honoree, while helping produce two AVCA NAIA Player of the Year recipients on the men's side.

A four-year starting setter at California Baptist, Johnson was named to the NAIA National Invitational All-Tournament Team in 2004, as the team won its first of back-to-back titles, repeating in 2005.

Johnson, who garnered league MVP honors twice as a prep and was named 2000 CIF Player of the Year in the season that his team won a state title, trained with the U.S. Men's National Volleyball team in 2005-06, the year after he graduated from California Baptist. He then began his coaching career as Graduate Strength and Conditioning Coach at Cal State Fullerton in 2006.

Johnson went on to complete his Master's of Science in kinesiology with a concentration in strength and conditioning at Fullerton, finishing the degree in 2009.

He left his alma mater in 2009 and served as assistant men's volleyball coach at Long Beach City College, then worked the 2010 season as Director of Women's Volleyball Operations at Cal State Fullerton.

In addition to his full-time duties as a Concordia head coach, Johnson plans to continue his duties as a setters coach with USA High Performance Camp, under the leadership of current U.S. Men's National Volleyball Team Head Coach Alan Knipe.

Johnson is currently head coach for the Protégé Girls Volleyball Club 17-Elite Team, based out of Whittier.

Johnson's work with Protégé resulted in the team's first-ever appearance at Junior Nationals in 2011, as the team earned a second-place finish at the Las Vegas qualifier, first place at the Minnesota qualifier and third place at the Dallas qualifier.

He holds a USAW Level I Club Coaching certificate and is a National Strength and Conditioning Association certified strength and conditioning specialist.

Johnson and his wife, Jane, have a 2-year-old son, Riley, and live in Downey.
