Head Coach- 3rd Season
In his fourth season at Concordia, Steve Carrera enters his third campaign coaching both the men's and women's water polo programs, the latter of which he took over in 2009.

Carrera's men's teams have gone 62-30 in his three two years, and he guided them to their best-ever performance in 2009, when the Eagles went 26-5, including 9-5 against teams ranked in the CWPA Top-20.

Concordia finished the season ranked No. 11 nationally and downed cross-town NCAA Div. I foe UC Irvine along the way.

Previously, the men had finished second at the 2007 CWPA/NAIA National Invitational and second at the 2008 CBU Fall Classic, which served as a substitute for the national invitational.

Over two years coaching the women, Carrera has gone 25-27, finishing as runner-up at the CWPA/NAIA National Invitational both years.

The 2006 Orange County Register Coach of the Year, Carrera previously coached at Northwood High School in Irvine, leading the Northwood to the 2006 CIF Southern Section Div. I championship game.

During his seven-year stint at Northwood, his team won a pair of league championships, went to the playoffs in every season and captured the 2006 CIF Southern Section Masters Championship.

A graduate of Irvine High School, Carrera was a three-year letterwinner in water polo and swimming. He was a first-team All-Sea View League honoree and earned second-team All-CIF Division I recognition in water polo.

Carrera played collegiately at Saddleback College, in Mission Viejo, before earning a scholarship to play water polo and swim at Queens College in New York, where he was named to the 2000 all-division team.

Carrera is single and lives in Irvine.
