Trevor Johnson
Head Coach
1st Season

Trevor Johnson begins his first season as the CU women’s volleyball head coach in 2013.  He replaced former head coach Dan Fisher, who took the head coaching position at the University of Pittburgh.

Johnson comes most recently as the head coach of the Concordia men's volleyball program, whom he guided to the 2013 NAIA National Championship in their first season of existence.  Johnson also spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach under former women's volleyball coach Dan Fisher.  As a result of his 2013 men’s volleyball championship, Johnson was selected NAIA Coach of the Year, NAIA All-Tournament Coach, and MAMVIC National Coach of the Year.

Johnson was selected the American Volleyball Coaches Association Southwest Region Assistant Coach of the Year.  In 2012 he was selected to the AVCA 30 Under 30 list.  He takes over a Concordia program that has gone 75-2 the last two seasons, won two GSAC Championships (38-0), been to two straight NAIA National Championship games, and won the 2012 NAIA National Championship, the first in school history.

A four-year starter at former Golden State Athletic Conference member California Baptist, Johnson left as the career leader in assists, and returned to help coach the player who would break his career record in the spring of 2011.

In the five years since his collegiate playing days were over, Johnson has coached both men and women at levels ranging from the NAIA to junior college to NCAA Div. I, most recently serving as assistant men's and women's coach at California Baptist.

Johnson helped guide California Baptist men's volleyball team during its 2011 NAIA National Invitational championship run, which included wins over ranked NCAA foes UC Irvine (No. 2), Stanford (No. 3) and UC Santa Barbara (No. 6).

On the women's side, Johnson's assistance resulted in the Lancers' runner-up finish at the 2007 NAIA National Championships. He also served as the top assistant for the 2008 team that finished third at the tournament.

A four-year starting setter at California Baptist, Johnson was named to the NAIA National Invitational All-Tournament Team in 2004, as the team won its first of back-to-back titles, repeating in 2005.

Johnson, who garnered league MVP honors twice as a prep and was named 2000 CIF Player of the Year in the season that his team won a state title, trained with the U.S. Men's National Volleyball team in 2005-06, the year after he graduated from California Baptist. He then began his coaching career as Graduate Strength and Conditioning Coach at Cal State Fullerton in 2006.

Johnson went on to complete his Master's of Science in kinesiology with a concentration in strength and conditioning at Fullerton, finishing the degree in 2009.

He left his alma mater in 2009 and served as assistant men's volleyball coach at Long Beach City College, then worked the 2010 season as Director of Women's Volleyball Operations at Cal State Fullerton.

Trevor and his wife Jane has two children, son, Riley (4), and daughter, Chloe, who was born in December of 2012.
