The 2013 Concordia Eagles season came to an end on Saturday afternoon, May 11, as the #17 Eagles fell in walk-off fashion for the second consecutive day, 2-1, to #22 Lindsey Wilson in the NAIA Opening Round Loser Out action from Embry-Riddle University and Daytona Beach, FL. The Eagles scored one run on six hits, while the Blue Raiders put two across on eight hits. A one-out single and error put a runner on third for LWC in the ninth. CU loaded the bases intenionally, but a sharp grounder through the left side ended the game.
The #17 Concordia Eagles scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to come all the way back and take a 6-5 lead, but two #5 Embry-Riddle runs in the bottom half defeated CU in the NAIA Opening Round Semifinals from Embry-Riddle University, Sliwa Stadium in Daytona Beach, FL on Friday, May 10.
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has officially announced the 45 qualifiers for the 2013 NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round. The event will take place at nine different sites around the country May 9 – 13. Each site will feature a five-team double-elimination tournament with the winners joining host Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) at the 57th annual Avista-NAIA Baseball World Series in Lewiston, Idaho, May 24 – 31.
